The enormous Squid Nebula is one of the most challenging structures in the northern sky. Its OIII signal is exceptionally faint, embedded within the much brighter Hα emission of Sh2-129. Capturing it is difficult. Revealing its delicate internal structure without losing the surrounding nebulosity is even harder.

At Hellas Sky, we have dedicated 100 hours of integration to this extraordinary field.

Its intricate OIII structures, internal filaments and subtle variations become clearly visible, while the enormous surrounding Hα complex of Sh2-129 reveals layer upon layer of faint nebulosity.

The dataset combines deep Hα and OIII integrations with RGB data for natural star colours, giving you everything needed to create a complete HOO image from exceptionally deep source material.

And you receive the data with which to create your own interpretation.

Deep data needs to be processed differently.

How far can you stretch Ou4 before the background begins to suffer? How do you reveal its faint internal structures without making the image look artificial? How do you separate the Squid from the surrounding hydrogen emission? And how do you preserve the delicate structures that all those hours of integration have captured?
